Placing the Sensor Strip skin electrodes properly is the most important aspect of testing. It’s important to clean the patient’s skin – under the lower lashes and out to the temple area before applying the Sensor Strips. To place the strips, get eye level with the patient, ask them to look straight at you, then place the edge of the Sensor Strip centered with the pupil, a couple of millimeters below the lash line. Now, go ahead and connect the Sensor Strip lead wire to the Sensor Strip tab under the right eye.
When you see the green circle on the screen, place the black eye cup over the patient’s right eye, touching their face. It should be pressed firmly but gently on their face. The patient’s eye should be visible inside the green circle. The device will scan to find the pupil. When it locates the pupil, you’ll see a blue circle with red cross hairs. You can then press Start to begin the test.
While the test is running, you’ll see a completion counter on the screen. The DR Assessment and the PhNR test take about a minute to a minute and 15 seconds. The Flicker 16 takes just about 20 seconds. When the right eye test is complete, unclip the blue lead wire.
You can now attach the clip to the left eye, and instruct the patient to cover their right eye and begin testing the left eye. When the left eye is finished, you’ll see Saving results on the screen. Disconnect the lead wire from the Sensor Strip, lay the device down, and gently remove the Sensor Strips from the patient’s face.
