We are LKC: Meet Ulrike Rahn
ERG – Not Just Functional, but Fun!
Transcript
Hi, I am Ulrike Rahn. I am the Director of Clinical Marketing at LKC.
I oversee ongoing clinical studies, I review literature and help with communicating these feelings to other doctors.
I joined LKC about two years ago. But I have to admit it took me almost a year to decide for an ERG company on the wrong belief that ERG is a niche product and only relevant to some researchers.
But I really had to learn that ERG has a tremendous value and so many applications ranging from pediatrics to actual diseases that affect millions of people, such as diabetic retinopathy.
Next thing I really learned quickly is it can be a lot of fun doing an ERG.
It was so easy that I tried it with my kids. We tested ERG, we exercise ERG almost everywhere: at the playground, head upside down, legs behind head, it made so much fun that nowadays I get huge discussions at home about who is going to be the first subject if I need to demonstrate or show the device. Apart from all that fun, what was the key message for me or what I really learned is you need to know about the function of the retina not not only about the structure.
It gives you an important piece of information, it’s very valuable and all the decision process throughout many diseases. I’m very proud to be a part of that team who brings this piece of technology, this information, to the doctors to help as many patients, as many people as possible.
