RETeval: Function to Rely On

Transcript

Frances Bynum, OD: “Well, there are two main things that we look at for function currently. Before the RETeval, you would have visual acuity that measures function. You have visual fields, and I suppose you could say autofluorescence in wide-field photography gives you function as well. But those first two things I mentioned, visual acuity and visual fields, are extremely subjective because we’re relying on the patient to give us information. So, this is something that we don’t have to rely on the patient to give us information for us to be able to evaluate the function of someone’s retina.”
