GAITHERSBURG, MARYLAND, USA, September, 2023 – LKC Technologies, a leader in the electroretinography device market, was recognized with a Sustainable Exhibitor Award by the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) at their 41st Congress, held in Vienna, Austria. LKC Technologies was one of seven companies shortlisted for this recognition. Monika Ranta, Vice President of International Sales, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
As awards were presented, LKC was lauded for the reusable shell scheme design used for its exhibitor booth at the congress and the team’s focus on reducing their carbon footprint by utilizing QR codes to achieve a 95% or greater reduction in paper usage, as well as prioritizing low-carbon transportation to and from the congress. LKC also rented booth furniture to reduce waste, in keeping with the ESCRS’s goal for environmental responsibility.
“We and our partners are committed to organizing a socially, environmentally, and economically inclusive congress,” said ESCRS President Oliver Findl. “Our ‘Mission Zero’ vision is to develop events with zero waste to landfills and zero net carbon emissions that are a role model for social and environmental responsibility.” Representatives for LKC fulfill this mission by limiting plastic use to minimize waste, utilizing reusable items such as water bottles or shopping bags, and taking advantage of recycling programs.
LKC Technologies will continue its sustainability efforts through participation in upcoming congresses across Europe and the Middle East, including Deutsche Ophthalmologische Gesellschaft (DOG), Euretina, European Pediatric Ophthalmological Society (EPOS), EPOMEC (Evolving Practice of Ophthalmology Middle East Conference), and Floretina.
